ABOUT ME

Teresa Brown

Licensed Professional Counselor/National Certified Counselor

Throughout her 20 years working with children and families, Ms. Brown has observed first-hand the emotional impact a divorce can have on a family. The effects of divorce are well documented, and a high-conflict divorce can continue to have long term effects into adulthood for the children involved.

Passion

Her passion for helping families navigate the difficult journey to co-parent in the midst of a high conflict divorce lead her to seek training as a Parent Facilitator and Parent Coordinator. Ms. Brown has met and exceeded the qualifications needed to be appointed as a Parent Facilitator/ Coordinator in the state of Texas. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and National Certified Counselor.

As a mother and divorced parent, she understands that even when a divorce is not high conflict there can still be long-term effects on the children. When parents continue to experience anger, distrust, or other difficulties in communicating beyond divorce the conflict continues to create distress for them and their children. Intense and prolonged inter-parental conflict can cause problems for children directly and indirectly. Her goal is to provide an environment that allows both parents to focus on the “best interests” of the child/children when developing co-parenting plans.

Ms. Brown is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Academy for Professional Family Mediators, and Texas Association of Mediators.
